Western Europe

2011-07-20 Western Europe

Many countries of Western Europe have suffered from rain attack. During last day were rainfalls: in the north of Italy 37-57 mm, in Switzerland up to 60 mm, 40-50 mm in the Czech Republic, in Poland 35-58 mm, in Germany 40-45 mm. These heavy rain are caused by North Atlantic cyclone. Atmospheric fronts of the cyclone are just in the central regions of Western Europe. And, as this cyclone was delayed in the UK, the fronts that are active enough, have given the rains in full. Western European countries are divided into two parts, it is abnormally cool in the west and abnormally hot in the east. The main reason for this division was the deep North Atlantic cyclone, which stays in the UK. Once the cold front has passed, from the north of Atlantic began to flow quite cool air. In the UK, the air temperature during the day did not rise above $ 15 degrees Celsius, and in France - above 20 degrees with a plus sign. This cold air has also entered the Iberian Peninsula. The air temperature in the region fell to 10 degrees. Even in the very south of Spain, in Malaga, the air temperature does not exceed the mark of 26 degrees. The average daily air temperature in the named countries was 5 degrees lower a norm. The other extreme was found on the south-east of Western Europe. Here, via intake of the hot air from northern Africa, it was abnormally hot. The average daily air temperature in these areas exceeded the normal by 5 degrees. In Greece, Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, the air warmed up to 38 degrees, in Bosnia and Hungary - to 35 degrees. The highest temperature was recorded in southern Turkey, and it was 40 degrees with a plus sign.
