Typhoons continue their march
On September 21 in Japan raged typhoon Roke. This time its impact was quite meager in comparison with past weather events, which people of this country experienced this year. Typhoon Roke was accompanied by heavy rainfall, daily norm of precipitation, for example, in the region of Tokaj reached 400 mm per day. For the time of typhoon railway traffic was stopped, later also were reported about damages on streets, fallen trees. In typhoon Roke died 10 people and five are missing. Now the typhoon has lost its strength and, as the cyclone, heads to "conquer" the Southern Kuril Islands. There are expected strong gusty winds and rainfall.
It is incredible how contradictory can be the essence and it’s name. Such contradictions can be observed in natural water hazards, which strength and power are far less romantic that their names. Tropical Storm Ophelia is another controversial example, which name is not suitable for such a terrible event. Today is storm concentrated in the central Atlantic, and it’s speed in the epicenter is 100 m/sec. According to weather forecasts, the trajectory of Ophelia will shift to the northwest.
Russian Federation is not passed by natural disasters. On September 21 St. Petersburg and Leningrad region were poured by heavy rains. It is a continuation of Hurricane Maria, which has lost its former strength. For the past day in St. Petersburg has fallen 19 mm of precipitation, in the Leningrad region - about 25 mm. This situation has naturally affected the air humidity, which reached the level of 80-85%. Daytime temperatures in the regional center during this period rose up to 17 degrees Celsius, and up to18 degrees in the region as a whole. Such weather conditions can change, giving way to cloudy weather with clearings, though it will not do without short rains. It is also expected a decrease in atmospheric pressure to 755 mm Hg. Wind will be south-west 5-11 m / sec.
